Movies I saw last week-2

"Polladhavan" was the second movie that I saw last week. I used to not like Dhanush until I saw the movie. He is a perfect fit for an "easy going, middle class guy who chases girls in a bike" type of characters. Dhanush likes(loves) Pulzar bikes very much that at one point he decides to buy the bike with the hard earned money his parents gave him to do something useful in his life. Things were going smoothly- he gets a job that requires him riding his bike throughout the day and he finally was able to express his love to the girl he has been following for quite a long time, until the bike gets stolen. It so happens that the bike was stolen from him by a guy named ravi, brother of a mafia leader. Dhanush wanted his bike more than anything in this world and so he confronts ravi. One things leads to another and Dhanush is sucked into the crazy mafia world. The movie ends with Dhanush earning his bike and his love.

The movie is so natural that we will feel that the story could happen to any guy living in chennai. The only thing that is kollywood-ish is the songs. If the songs are removed, the movie is a typical day to day life of a chennai 20-something guy. Dhanush, the mafia leader and his brother acted very well. The dialogues are natural and of typical chennai slang. "Engeyum Eppodhum" song is a faithful remix of the old MSV hit.

Overall, it is a beautifully crafted movie which really deserves the praise that it garnered when it got released in India.
